Arctur's sensor arrays at the ICT 2013 event in Vilnius
The conference will feature top ICT professionals from industry, academia and research.
The Vice President of the European Commission, Neelie Kroes and the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Dalia GrybauskaitÄ— will open the conference.
Speakers from across the ICT sector will address a range of issues from cloud computing, broadband, ICT infrastructures, ICT skills, cyber security, long-term visions on the future and much more.
Arctur will present one of their research projects: Big data analysis from multiple arrays of sensors deployed in rural areas
In last years FTTH PON broadband network was built in rural areas of Southern Slovenia. It covers an area of almost 1000 km2 and includes more than 4000 households. A modern HPC and Cloud center is located in the same area and connected to the same network, opening many opportunities for field research. Consortium of broadband suppliers, HPC / Cloud computing providers and research organizations is building various multiple sensor arrays in order to gather data for further analysis using cutting edge technologies on IPv6 like 6LowPan etc.
The research project is looking for additional partners with field expertise and similar initiatives Europe wide to broaden the focus and scope of our Living lab.
There are not many parts in Europe to have a pure FTTH network in rural areas with less than 50 inhabitants per square km. This opens research possibilities not very different from the possibilities that Google tackles in their "Google Fiber" projects - but in all different environment and raising different social, technical and environmental questions.
In addition, building multiple arrays of heterogeneous sensors using IPv6/6LowPan technology as well as advanced processing techniques presents very innovative approach to field exploration.
The project results will contribute to more equilibrated development of urban and rural areas, advancing the competitiveness of the latter. Various research topics, addressed and researched through multiple sensor arrays and big data analysis will help us understand the rural environment (physical, social, economic, etc) in fine detail, and will allow for better planning and further development.
Arctur will be exhibiting at booth nr. 4B11 in Hall nr.4. Where we will be presenting and showing all of the details of the network infrastructure and sensor arrays.
Welcome at our booth!
