Ranked among the Top 20 Research-Performing Institutions in Slovenia by ResearchRanking.org (based on EU research output), Arctur’s R&D Group today comprises 40 researchers, jointly contributing to more than 30 ongoing projects across HPC, AI, cloud computing, and digital transformation. Supported by Arctur’s advanced technological infrastructure and a strong culture of innovation, the group consistently turns research concepts into high-value solutions.

Growing Scientific Output

The group’s scientific productivity has grown steadily, with 16 peer-reviewed publications between 2023 and 2025, presented at leading international conferences and featured in prominent journals. Recent highlights include:

Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare

• Research on AI-driven cancer classification and surgical decision-support systems. Presented at: European Association for Endoscopic Surgery Congress (2024); RCSI National Theatre Effectiveness Conference (2024); Surgical AI Days (2025). Published in the European Journal of Surgical Oncology

Digital innovation of Cultural Heritage

• Reflection on a Slovenian initiative that is transforming the use of 3D models to create innovative tourist experiences. Published as the chapter, Digital Innovation of Cultural Heritage: Reflection on Slovenian Story of Success in the proceedings of the 7th UNESCO UNITWIN Conference, World Heritage and Tourism Innovation.

Monitoring of tourist flows

• Addressing challenges in collecting local data and promoting data-driven decision making in tourism. Published as the article, Uporaba lokalnih podatkov za boljše spremljanje turističnih tokov : kritična perspektiva in Uporabna informatika, 2024.  

Cloud Computing and Data Spaces

• Exploring advancements in European cloud services in the era of data spaces, high-performance, and edge computing. Published as the paper, A catalyst for European cloud services in the era of data spaces, high-performance and edge computing: NOUS in the proceedings of eSAAM ’24.
