Minister visiting Arctur

Slovenian Prime Minister and Ministers of the Government visited Primorska region today. In the course of the day, Mrs. Duša Trobec Bučan, Minister Responsible for Local Self-Government and Regional Policy, visited Arctur's Nova Gorica premises. Arctur's management briefed the high guests on company's position and strategic orientation. A special emphasys was put on Arctur's R&D projects, notably on the projects related to High Performance Computing and Cloud Computing. Minister showed great interest in influences that these new services and infrastructure have on advancement on other scientific and technological fields. 

Mr. Tomi Ilijaš, Arctur's CEO, presented company's plans for the future. He stressed the importance of bridging the border between Slovenia and Italy in the ICT sense. A relatively low investment of 6 million EUR would enable the establishing of HPC centre and communication infrastructure in Nova Gorica region, which would in turn enable Slovene ICT companies to market hi-tech services to the economically b market of north-eastern Italy. By establishing a critical mass of experts, Slovenia could reach the primate on the HPC field in this part of Europe. Mrs. Duša Trobec Bučan, Minister Responsible for Local Self-Government and Regional Policy, welcomed these plans.
