New 4PM Module Streamlines Cost Planning for ARIS Co-Funded R&D Projects
Organizations implementing research and development (R&D) projects co-funded by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS) often face fragmented cost tracking, manual spreadsheet work, and time-consuming financial reconciliation. These processes can consume hours or even days of administrative work while increasing the risk of errors and inconsistencies.
To address these challenges, Arctur has developed a new ARIS project cost planning module within the 4PM platform, enabling organizations to manage project finances more transparently, accurately, and efficiently.
Centralized project cost management
The new module brings all key project cost categories into a single environment – including labor costs, materials, services, and depreciation. Users can review financial data by project year, organizational unit, or across the entire project lifecycle.
Designed for project managers, finance teams, and organizational leadership, the module provides reliable support for financial planning and monitoring project performance.
A key advantage is the direct comparison of:
- the ARIS-approved financial plan,
- the organization’s internal financial plan,
- actual project realization.
This helps organizations identify deviations earlier, improve control over the use of funding, and significantly reduce the administrative effort required for project financial management.

More automation, fewer errors
The module automatically uses ARIS unit cost values already available within the 4PM environment and performs key financial calculations automatically.
As a result, organizations can:
- prepare financial plans faster,
- reduce manual data entry and reconciliation,
- minimize calculation errors,
- standardize planning processes,
- monitor spending more effectively,
- identify financial deviations in time.
The ability to transfer data from previous reporting periods further reduces repetitive work and accelerates project planning and alignment.
“When developing this module, we focused on the specific challenges organizations face when implementing ARIS projects. Our goal was to provide a more transparent approach to financial planning, reduce manual data reconciliation, and deliver reliable insights into project financial realization,” emphasizes Ariana Šumandl, Head of the 4PM Department.
Supporting the digitalization of R&D project management
The new module represents an important upgrade to the 4PM platform, helping organizations achieve more transparent, data-driven, and efficient financial management of ARIS-funded projects throughout their entire lifecycle.
